【Tips from the Clinic】
It is possible to restore the unique shine and lustor of pearls,  regardless of the thick or thinness of its encasing. During the restoration process, it is possible to bring back a pearls shine, however a complete restoration is not possible at all times. Similarly, if the pearl has changed into a yellow-ish cream colour, it is less likely to be able to restore its shine.

UV damage is a major cause of the yellowing of pearls and can possiblity penetrate from up to 0.3 mm to 0.4 mm in depth into the pearl. However, pearls with thick encasings are also viable for yellowing regardless of UV damage on their outer layers.

In the “anti-aging maintenance care,” you may be able to slow down the fading-rate of the pearls; however, if the pearl has already began its yellowing process, full restoration of the pearl is unlikely.

Perodic maintenance of the anti-aging care can prevent the pearls' deterioration including fading and yellowing. This can prolong the pearls' shine from up to 1 to 2 years.

【Tips about pearls】
In order to culture pearls, we nucleate the inside of our mollusks with cells that produce pearls. Gradually, these cells that create the pearls will begin to take form by encasing itself over and over again, like a trunk of a tree – creating winding layers. These layers can be as thick as several hundred layers to about one 1000 layers, eventually becoming a single pearl. From around 1960s to 1975, this cell that creates these pearls transformed into cells that do not contain any colour pignments, thus, the pearls that have been cultured since do not easily turn yellow.
